During the Mid-Winter school break this coming February we meet up in San Diego and head south of the border for an introductory multi-generational, missional experience. This is your opportunity to serve and meet the needs of those less fortunate.
Over the years we’ve served in many ways at Rancho El Refugio, from hands-on projects such as building and landscaping to service-oriented activities such as visiting orphanages and migrant worker camps to provide meals, and other basic necessities to show God's love. For three days we work on these projects and provide meaningful service to those less fortunate in and around the town of Ensenada, Mexico. No matter your skills and abilities, there is something you can be involved in.
We work with the Ranch Directors, Ricardo, and Erika Green to determine what local ministries we get involved with, individuals on the team can decide whether to work on projects at the Ranch or participate in one of the planned ministry day trips. More details will be available closer to the time of the trip about which local ministries we will be helping with.
Accommodations
We will be staying at Rancho El Refugio, on the outskirts of Ensenada which is safe and comfortable. The facilities are nice and clean if simple, there are numerous bathrooms and a nice kitchen and main dining area for mealtimes. Two evenings we will prepare the main meal, the Ranch will provide one and for the final evening we will go out to a local establishment. Breakfast and lunch are more of a help-yourself arrangement as folks are scattered about involved in different things. The Ranch does not provide any bedding, although you can find some blankets. Sleeping bags or sheets and blankets are needed. A more detailed packing list of recommended items will be sent closer to the time of the trip.

Cost
It is important for us to keep the per-person costs of the trip as low as possible, to that end we find the best deals we can for the hotel and van rental. Airfare to and from San Diego is not included.
Following is a break-down of the cost in general categories…
- Transport related (vans, gas, tolls, etc.) $145
- Hotel (San Diego) $80
- Ranch Lodging $100
- Supplies (food, drinks, etc.) $100
- Total $425
Project Costs
We also provide the funds needed for the projects we work on while we are there, such as construction materials or gifts for children at the school or orphanage. These funds are not part of the per-person cost and are raised separately, typically some of the families going on the trip join together to cover these additional costs, there is no obligation or pressure to donate to this.
